Jeffrey Munn, MFT

With over 12 years of experience providing psychotherapy, I have worked with hundreds of individuals struggling with a wide variety of mental health challenges including OCD, anxiety, depression, addiction, and more. I am in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and will provide superbills for those wishing to seek reimbursement for out-of-network services with other insurance providers.

Teletherapy services available for residents of California.

  • OCD

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, or OCD, is an often crippling anxiety disorder consisting of intrusive, unwanted thoughts and obsessions. Compulsive thoughts or actions are used to seek relief from these thoughts, but the relief is only temporary. The cycle continues or worsens over time. I treat OCD using the gold standard approach, which is a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).

  • Addiction

Whether it’s drugs, alcohol, pornography, food, gambling, or any other compulsive behavior, being caught in a self-destructive cycle can cause tremendous damage. As a therapist and recovering addict, I provide a secular approach to addiction recovery that involves teaching emotional regulation, encouraging social support, modifying behavior, addressing distorted thinking, and exploring grief and trauma.

  • Anxiety

Anxiety can mean a lot of things. Essentially, it involves excessive fear or worry. I treat anxiety using a combination of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and mindfulness coaching. These approaches have been shown to reduce severity of multiple forms of anxiety including social anxiety, generalized anxiety, panic disorder, and phobias.

  • Depression

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that over 264 million people worldwide struggle with depression. If you are feeling hopeless, excessively sad, overwhelmed, and unmotivated, you are not alone. Therapy can help you understand your condition and how it fools you into despair. It can also provide you with tools to improve your quality of life and envision a bright future.

If you require immediate assistance, please dial 911. I do not offer short-term crisis services.

You can also reach the National Suicide Hotline at 800-273-8255.

  • Couple's Counseling

Whether you’re early in a relationship or have been married for 50 years, challenges can arise that are difficult to solve without outside help. Couple’s therapy helps you identify the dysfunctional patterns occurring in your relationship and provides tools and insights to improve communication and intimacy.

  • Stress Management

Sometimes, even without any specific mental health conditions, life can get extremely stressful and overwhelming. I provide general therapy for life stress that utilizes components of psychotherapy and life coaching to help you stay balanced and process your emotions as they arise. Many people choose to have weekly therapy for stress management as a preventative measure before life gets too overwhelming.
